What Am I Doing?

As I try to type this first blog post, I want to let you in on a secret. I've never done this before! But, I do know what I am doing. I know how to write and I know what I want to say. More importantly, I know why I want to say something. I am tired of being silent. I am tired of seeing people being taken advantage of because of their lack of resources or knowledge of resources. I am tired of seeing my people depressed, bitter and complacent. I AM TIRED so now I am doing something about it. While I am only one person with a voice, I plan to use it. And, if I only help one person, I have done what I have been called to do. Inspire and educate.
With the Ladder Up blog, it is my solemn duty to provide you with inspiration from on high and education from below that will grant you access and opportunity. After all, that is how so many people are shut out from opportunities, access and education. If you don't know about it, you can't ask about it and if you can't ask about it you can lose out on a life changing opportunity. Why is it called the Ladder Up blog? Because I'm reaching for you and giving you a hand up the ladder. The ladder is whatever you want it to be (spiritual, educational, financial, mental). I'm going to have guests on here as well to share their expertise.
P.S. You'll be helping me as well :) I'm not ashamed to admit that I don't know it all.
So, why is this so important? As an example, I recently completed a leadership program and the number one reason why employees aren't successful at a task is because they simply don't understand it. Wow! Instead of asking for help or an explanation, they keep doing the same thing hoping for different results. That's insanity! Just a bit of education could go a long way.
Now that I shared with you what I am doing, what are you doing? Is there something in your life that you are doing the same thing over and over hoping for different results? If your response to this question is yes, consider a different approach.
For me, I realized that me being in the room (places where it seems I should not have a presence) and gaining all this knowledge isn't helping those still trying to enter into the room...while it's a victory for me, I cannot sit back and keep the doors closed on those looking for a way in because once upon a time, that was me. I found out too that it's not always about the door but who is willing to let you in. The "I made it!" isn't as impressive as "We made it!" We're supposed to encourage one another. It was in this shift in thinking that I found my purpose.
The concept of Ladder Up isn't just an idea. It's a God inspired idea. I hope you'll take this journey with me and share this blog with all the people you know!
Giving you the ladder :)
Rosalind
