Never could we have imagined that our way of living would be interrupted by a disease that not everyone has. Schools closed, businesses closed, churches closed, limitations on what we can get and how we can get it. It has been mentally exhausting to say the least but even in this pandemic, all is not lost. Leadership has emerged from the ashes as the most transformational movement across the country. Yes, it has become a movement because it is so desperately needed. Yet, not all leaders are equipped to handle the magnitude of the factors included in this pandemic.
Great leaders can change and be adaptable at any moment. Great leaders have a unique sense of empathy that will find a way to still empower and encourage its team. Great leaders hold themselves accountable for their actions and admit when they are wrong. Great leaders during this pandemic are essential. Why? It is not that they have prepared for the pandemic but they have prepared for when change comes.
Change is inevitable. You can't run from it. It must be embraced so that you can find ways to still thrive while finding your way. If you are a leader, how willing have you been to shift your perspective and your direction?
Here are a few things that can help as you try to lead.
Listen to your team.
Be willing to adopt new ideas.
Encourage mental wellness among your team.
Provide a safe space for people to discuss their concerns.
Actively help your team. Don't just give orders.
Anxiety is at an all time high and people are counting on you. Remember that those you lead have feelings and so do you. You take care of others by taking care of yourself too. Be influential and lead from the bottom, meaning servanthood should not be beneath you.
Giving you the ladder up,
Rosalind
